2022 Muga White Wine
I’m enjoying this remarkable change of pace in white wine from the Rioja region of Spain. It is fun to try new wines, especially at the start of a new year. The 2022 Muga White Wine is at Costco stores and selling for $14.99. The Muga white is a blend of 85% Viura, 10% Garnacha Blanca, 5% Malvasia. Most wine drinkers probably have not tried any of these Spanish white wine grapes. You need to try this wine now with Spanish food. Don’t have a Costco store near you; use the Wine-Searcher to discover where you can buy this wine where you live.
The winery is in Haro in La Rioja, Spain. It dates back to 1932 and is a family-run winery. Muga is the only winery in Spain with a master cooper and three in-house barrel makers. The city of Haro has many great Bodegas. Spend some time in Haro and visit Muga and other wineries. Read more.
2022 Muga White Wine Tasting Notes
The grape blend of the Muga White lends itself to many subtle characteristics. We get citrus notes of lemon and fragrances of the flowering garden. Peach also comes to mind. The Muga is refreshing and perfect as an aperitif with its balanced acidity. Seafood is also a great match. Try it with calamari, pulpo (octopus), and light white fish.
The famous Spanish wine critic Guia Penin rates this wine at 90 points. I agree with that rating.
